For the finishing touches for my animations, I wanted to go back and add audio or talk about what I would have wanted to include.
Week 1 - 'The Frog Pond'
Additions:
More obvious background sound
Bubble with direction
Music - e.g.
Week 2 - 'Body Positivity'
Like ping, similar to sound when you like something on Facebook
LOUD ringtone to show anxiety of the person using the phone
A gasp reacting to the sound, showing discomfort and intrusive thought.
I don't thing music to this piece worked well because I wat the sudden ringtone to be sudden and intrusive like how insecurity and anxiety work.
Week 3 - 'George's First Pancake Day'
Additions:
Sound of fire from hob
Growl from cat
Strong thud from the pancake
Music - e.g.
Week 4 - 'Treating TV-Paint like a Sketchbook
Experiment 1-
Loop sound
Music -
Experiment 2 -
Water / rain sound
Crunching of leaves growing
An a ascending melody (getting higher in pitch)
Week 6 - 'Animated Logo'
Jingle to represent my brand
Sparkle for eye
Leaves growing
Birds in background?
Week 5, 6, 7 - Street, Park, Fairground
For my most recent animations I combined literal sounds of things occurring and suggestional sounds.
All 3 animation have a melody going through the entire animation, which keeps the animations feeling full and busy.
'A Normal Day on the Street'
Car with directional fade at a close distance, makes it more realistic and makes it seem like a busy street
Song has a jungle theme, matching the idea of a busy habitat/city and the inhabitants
Birds give jungle feel and matches the birds in the animation, suggests there are more off camera
Sound of snake give clarification of the animal but also makes it appear the snake was after the bird/the reason the bird flew away.
'Lets go to the Park on Saturday!'
Song similar to the street animation but simplified, with city in background and use of similar song you can tell the locations are close but not the same.
Dogs in background imply there are more dogs in the park and foreshadows the dog chasing the ball later on
Bikes with directional sound and fade
Spill sound to right, makes viewer aware of ants to the right and that they have stolen from the woman. Also seeing the aftermath after hearing it may make viewer to rewatch to see what caused the accident.
Dog with human bark, I wanted a bark which matched the goofiness of the dog and felt like a lot of normal dog barks didn't match the quirkiness of the animation.
Tetradactyly scream, again I used a human sounded noise to add to the quirkiness
Trumpet as scream for crocodile, rather then a scream I used a funny trumpet sound and faded it out as the crocodile was swooped away.
'The fairs in Town!'
Song with a circus theme to match the surroundings
Background sounds of rollercoasters and screams to add atmosphere and attention to Ferris wheel and coaster in the background
Ascending harp to the right, to draw attention to the fortune teller in the tent. Gives a mystical theme
Clown horn to the left, to pull the listeners back over to the left side when actions occurs
Dinosaur roar like a call, to show the friendliness of the dino despite its size and introduces the dinosaur before coming onto the screen.
Kiss sound to show the dino blowing a kiss but gives a comedic value to the cliché
Pop sound to the left to show the turtle popping back out of its shell, matching the quirky soundtrack
